Michael Paula

Director, Austrian Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology

Michael Paula graduated in mechanical engineering at the Vienna University of Technology. Since 1986 he has worked in public administration in the fields of energy research, environmental technologies and sustainable development strategies.
Since 1996, he has headed the Department of Energy and Environmental Technologies and developed R & I strategies on technological research issues of sustainability. He developed the (online) platform Sustainable Economy with the programs House of the Future, House of the Future Plus, City of the Future, Factory of the Future and Energy Systems of the Future and initiated the Strategy Process Energy 2050 as well as the Austrian Smart Cities Initiative.
He worked as a lecturer for Adapted Technology at the Vienna University of Technology. He teaches at the Fachhochschule Pinkafeld and the Technikum Wien University of Applied Sciences.
